Leipzig, 1989. Twelve-year-old Fany looks after her best friend’s dog after she fails to return from the holidays, having fled with her family to the West. Fany decides to find her and return her beloved Sputnik. Along the way, she witnesses events that change the history of the entire country. The story captures the atmosphere of the fall of the communist regime through a child’s eyes and the strength of friendship in the face of change.
