These films are a curated selection by the programmers of one of the world’s most prestigious animation festivals, CINANIMA in Portugal. CINANIMA - International Animated Film Festival of Espinho, founded in 1976, is one of the oldest animation festivals in the world. Organized by NASCENTE – a non-profit cultural cooperative – in partnership with Espinho City Hall, and recognized by ASIFA, the festival has played a key role in promoting animation cinema and its authors internationally. CINANIMA is also an Academy Award® qualifying festival, with its Grand Prize winner eligible for the Oscar® shortlist. Over the years, it has been dedicated to fostering audiences, supporting filmmakers, and affirming animation as a vital artistic and cultural expression.
