Monika Zavřelová is a journalist, presenter, and interview author who has long focused on mapping the cultural scene through personal stories. For more than fifteen years, she has worked in the media, conducting hundreds of interviews both in the Czech Republic and abroad—on camera as well as in more intimate, in-person settings. She is professionally associated with iDNES.cz, where she started her career and later led the culture section. She currently publishes her own format, Rozhovory Moniky Zavřelové (Monika Zavřelová Interviews), in which she speaks with creators across generations—from established figures to emerging talents. In her work, she has met and interviewed a number of prominent figures from both international and Czech culture, including Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Quentin Tarantino, John Malkovich, Emma Watson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy, and Tim Roth. She has gained experience at international festivals and cultural events in cities such as Los Angeles, London, Berlin, and Cannes.
How is a film created from the perspective of those who are not seen on screen, yet without whom no film could exist? This session will shed light on the behind-the-scenes world of filmmaking and reveal the work of professions that often remain hidden from audiences. The program offers a rare opportunity to look “beneath the surface” of film production and experience cinema from a completely different perspective—through the eyes of those who help bring it to life.
