Fifteen-year-old Emma grows up during World War II in a strict Protestant community in Switzerland. After a traumatic experience that turns her life upside down, she decides to defy the expectations around her and take her fate into her own hands. In an environment full of prejudice and hypocrisy, she searches for her own voice and place in the world.
