Inspired by true events, the story is set in the suburbs of New York in 1984. Teenager Julie welcomes a charismatic Spanish exchange student into her family, who quickly captures everyone’s attention. Julie falls in love with him – or at least thinks she does – and gradually discovers how fragile and confusing first love can be.
