Gifted violinist Shóna grows up in remote western Ireland, where traditional music shapes her but also feels like a cage. Under pressure from her strict mother and mounting self-doubt, she begins to lose sight of what music truly means to her. Everything changes when she meets a group of traveling musicians. Together with her younger brother, she sets off on an adventurous journey where music transforms into a language of freedom. Beyond the expectations of others, she discovers that tradition can be a source of strength if embraced on her own terms. Directed by Lance Daly, this energetic film blends the poetry of coming of age with the power of Irish folk music. With lightness and emotion, it explores the desire to break free. Megan Nic Fhionnghaile’s acting debut brings authenticity, turning the film into a joyful, music-filled celebration of identity and the courage to go against the current.
