She is making her debut as a director. Her day job is editing and producing short film forms. She once became an engineer by accident. She graduated in multimedia techniques from the Faculty of Mechatronics at the Warsaw University of Technology and in photography from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. In her free time, she animates. Privately a mum of two boys, with invariably girlish energy.
Jagoda (11) and Zuzia (13) are inseparable friends from a housing estate. They meet outside, grab ice cream, or hang out at the playground. With their charismatic and playful personalities, there’s never a dull moment – they always have something going on. Being a girl is a strange experience – and they’re just entering puberty. Biology, hormones, pimples, boys, bras, TikTok, women’s rights, first rebellions, first crushes. Their first period – when will it come? And what else is on the way? Even parents don’t always have the answers. Jagoda and Zuzia are fantastic storytellers and commentators: opposites, ironic, opinionated, sometimes scared, but always full of life. They open up the “girl world” every girl knows well – and maybe, for the first time, some boys will see it too. Director Aga Borzym has created a playful, intimate, and deeply insightful portrait of girlhood where joy has a firm place.
