Shortly after his graduation he moved to the Czech Republic to pursue his passion in filmmaking and enrolled in the post graduate program at renowned university of FAMU in Prague.
Since his studies Unkovski lives in Skopje, Macedonia and works as a full time director for one of the leading advertising agencies in the country - FUTURA 2/2 and Cinema Futura - a local production house dedicated to making films. Unkovski is a Sundance Alumni and hislast short film STICKER has won over 50 International Awards. DJ AHMET is his first feature film.

Set in a remote mountain village, this liberating, music-fueled coming-of-age film follows teens rebelling against tradition to find their true selves. Ahmet (15) lives with his younger brother and strict father, who expects him to inherit the family’s flock after their mother’s death. But when Ahmet discovers a secret techno party in the woods, he’s drawn into a world of rhythm, lights, and freedom – where he meets Aya, a girl desperate to escape an arranged marriage. Inspired, Ahmet transforms his family’s old tractor into a mobile boombox, and the two sneak away, chasing beats, freedom, and identity. With striking landscapes of North Macedonia and a fresh directorial voice, this warm and honest debut explores self-expression in the face of repression. A tender, energetic portrait of youth, dreams, and rebellion, the film had its world premiere at Sundance, where it won the Audience Award.
