Fernando Eimbcke (1970, Mexico) Selected Filmography: Duck Season (Temporada de patos, 2004), Lake Tahoe (2008), Revolution (Revolución, 2010), Sandwich club (Club Sándwich, 2013), Olmo (2025)

Olmo (14) lives with his family in the quiet suburbs of Las Cruces, New Mexico. In the López household, emotions run on a quiet barter system. Olmo tends to his bedridden father while his mother works double shifts to keep them afloat. His older sister is wrapped in her own world, and their father is far from easy. When Olmo tries to impress his beautiful neighbor Nina by bringing a radio to a party, he unintentionally disrupts the fragile balance at home. Set in the late 1970s, with nods to Saturday Night Fever, this coming-of-age story blends humor with tenderness. Director Fernando Eimbcke crafts a unique, timeless world where the silence between words often says the most. Through deadpan wit and heartfelt moments, the film paints a subtle yet powerful portrait of growing up, family dynamics, and the quiet strength required to navigate them. It premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.
