Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese film director, producer, screenwriter, animator, author, and manga artist. Through a career that has spanned five decades, Miyazaki has attained international acclaim as a masterful storyteller and as a maker of anime feature films and, along with Isao Takahata, co-founded Studio Ghibli, a film and animation studio. Miyazaki has been described as combining elements of Walt Disney, Steven Spielberg and Orson Welles.
A conflict unfolds between San, a girl raised by wolves, and Lady Eboshi, the ruler of Iron Town, whose industrial ambitions are destroying the surrounding forest. Prince Ashitaka, cursed by a fatal wound of rage, enters the fray and journeys to the forest where San lives. He seeks to bring peace between the opposing sides – but is it even possible? This grand yet nuanced film explores the need to resist anger and blindness with breathtaking cinematic power.
