Yan Lanouette Turgeon is a director and screenwriter based in Montreal. His first feature film, Rock Paper Scissors was hailed as a " bold neo-noir thriller " with " many brilliant moments reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino at his best " (Brendan Kelly, La Gazette). Since then, Yan has become one of Quebec's most prominent series directors, and the recipient of several Gémeaux nominations and awards. He began his television career with Unit 9 (season 4), then followed it up with two seasons of The Imposter (L’imposteur), his first original series. After directing the fourth season of True North, he continued his career with Epidemic (which was sold around the world) and more recently No Return, a first genre series that proved to be both a commercial and critical success and remains to this day the Quebec series with the highest ratings for Noovo and Crave. The year 2024 will see two of his projects come to fruition. The first is an ambitious period spy series IXE-13 and the Race for Uranium that revolves around the adventures of IXE -13, the ace Canadian spy. The second project is his second feature film, Miss Bottine, inspired by a reinterpretation of the classic Bach and Bottine.
When young Simone loses her beloved grandmother, she is placed in the care of her uncle Philippe – an anxious opera composer who hasn’t been able to write anything new since his first hit. As Philippe struggles with his work and his own insecurities, Simone and her inseparable companion, a skunk named Bottine, turn his life upside down. Thanks to Simone’s energy, and with the support of her friend Paul and pianist Alice, Philippe gradually finds his way back to both the girl and himself.
