Frida is a little girl with big dreams and an even bigger imagination. She grows up in early 20th-century Coyoacán, Mexico, surrounded by color and culture. Curious and joyful, she explores the world around her and learns about her roots from her mother. But when she contracts polio, she’s cut off from school and friends. To escape the pain, she retreats into a vivid world of imagination, where she meets an imaginary friend who gives her strength. Even after recovery, challenges remain – at school, she faces ridicule for her disability. But Frida’s creativity and courage help her turn hardship into a world of color and hope. Hola Frida is a magical animated film about the childhood of Frida Kahlo, one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century. With warmth and beauty, it tells the story of a young girl who uses imagination, determination, and art to overcome life’s challenges.
