New Cinema 2024: Get to know your cinema operator

The New Cinema project has long been educating and connecting cinema operators and distributors not only from the Czech Republic but also from neighboring countries. For the 2024-2025 festival, one of its goals is to connect cinema operators with producers and other stakeholders in the audiovisual industry, for whom cinemas are important spaces for their activities. Understanding the principles of cinema operation is a fundamental prerequisite for successfully screening films, educational projects, and other events that take place in cinemas. The seminar "Know Your Cinema Operator" is structured around presentations, moderated discussions, and a "round table" of participants from the New Cinema 2024-2025 project with other stakeholders in the audiovisual industry. Basic cinema operation procedures will be presented, ranging from technical specifications to programming and PR. Participants in the project operate cinemas in both large cities and small towns and villages, allowing for a comparison of approaches based on the size of the catchment area or competitive environment.
