Charles-Olivier Michaud was born and raised in Quebec City and graduated from the Los Angeles Film School. He has directed the films Snow and Ashes (10), On the Beat (11), Exile (12), 4 Minute Mile (14), and Anna (15). Ru (23) is his latest project.

After a dangerous sea crossing and a stay in a Malaysian refugee camp, a young Vietnamese girl named Tinh and her family arrive in Quebec where they begin a new life. Thanks to the warm welcome from all, including their sponsor family, she slowly adapts to her new reality. Tinh overcomes her shyness to learn a new language, discovers a new culture, and adjusts to a new life in Quebec.
