Born in Hiroshima, Japan in 1959, NISHIO Daisuke joined Toei Animation in 1981 and debuted with Dr. Slump, a great success at the box office which became one of the highest-grossing manga adaptations in its first week. His dynamic directing set him apart from other directors of his time, and after directing Dragon Ball Z he quickly became Toei Animation’s best director for martial arts scenes and action genre films. Never limiting himself to one genre, NISHIO has directed films across various genres including drama, noir, mystery, and sci-fi. To this day, NISHIO is known for his broad spectrum and stellar filmography which includes the likes of the Dragon Ball series, One Piece, Air Master, GeGeGe no Kitarō, The Kindaichi Case Files, Futari Wa Pretty Cure, Interstella 5555, and Halo Legends – Odd One Out.
