Koen Mortier is a Belgium director and producer. After completing his film studies at the Royal Institute of Theatre, Cinema and Sound in Brussels, Koen made several short films and music videos. Koen debut feature Ex Drummer (2007) premiered at Rotterdam IFF before playing and gathering awards at other international film festivals. Both of his next films 22nd of May (2010) and Angel (2018) premiered internationally at Toronto IFF and played at many other film festivals. Skunk is based on the novel by Geert Taghon and is Koen’s fourth feature film.

Liam is a neglected teen who is taken away from his parents’ home, where substance abuse and violence reign. Trading his school for a closed youth facility, he has trouble starting over again as he gets bullied even worse there. Although Liam finds solace with a new friend and social workers at first, when he revisits old traumas during counselling, his past keeps haunting him.
