In a blizzard, a bear cub and his mother cross a frozen lake. During the storm, the ice breaks and his mother disappears. The little bear finds himself alone in a clearing. He wanders as he waits impatiently for the night. At nightfall, the Ursa Major, his only source of comfort, appears in the sky. Suddenly, a star from the constellation falls and lands in the middle of a distant lake, provoking and spreading waves of frost. At first hesitant, he decides in good conscience to return the star to the Ursa Major. He travels through a dense forest, then arrives at the lake. A windstorm has risen and the cub struggles to reach for the star. He finally catches it, and time stands still and everything becomes peaceful again. He sees the Ursa Major's reflection in the lake and dives in to return the star. As he swims, the water becomes sky. He hangs the star and completes the constellation. The Ursa Major comes to life, thanks him and invites him to join her in the sky. And hence the bear cub became the Ursa Minor.
