Unterwaldt

Sven Unterwaldt is one of Germany’s most successful directors. He recently celebrated the most successful German film of the year on two occasions as the director of “School of Magical Animals 2 & 3” (2022, 2024).
He is also one of the most successful come dy specialists among German filmmakers. He previously featured at German cinemas in 2021, with the remake of the legendary television series CATWEAZLE, for which he worked once again with Otto Waalkes. He had already previously landed a big family entertainment hit at the German cinemas with FOUR ENCHANTED SISTERS (2019).
He scored one of the biggest German movie hits of the last 25 years with 7 DWARVES: THE FOREST IS NOT ENOUGH , by and starring Otto Waalkes, in 2004. He provided another hit with Waalkes and OTTO’S ELEVEN (2010). His most recent film work includes IT’S YOUR TURN, HONEY! (2017), a divorce satire starring
Carolin Kebekus and Maxim Mehmet based on a French film, DADDY OR MOMMY (2015), and ICE PRINCESS LILY (2018), the animated adventure based on the hit musical by Peter Maffay. In 2016 Unterwaldt directed ANTONIO IM WUNDERLAND, starring Christian Ulmen and Mina Tander. Unterwaldt’s first movie was LIKE RABBITS (2000), based on the comics by Ralf König “Maybe... Maybe Not ”. He then made his ultimate breakthrough as a movie director with 7 DWARVES . SIEGFRIED (2005), starring Tom Gerhardt as the Germanic hero, promptly followed. Then, in the following year, the sequel to 7 DWARVES, 7 DWARVES: THE FOREST IS NOT ENOUGH , attracted another seven - figure audience. Unterwaldt then presented the satire U- 900 (2008) with his companion Atze Schröder shortly after.
Sven Unterwaldt was born in Lübeck in 1965 and started his television career in 1996 with the comedy series MANNGOLD and THE SWITCH. He directed his first television film in 1999, ANTRAG VOM EX, starring Dorkas Kiefer. Before that, he directed Anke Engelke’s personality comedy show ANKE from 1999 to 2001. He then achieved major successes with ALLES ATZE and BERLIN, BERLIN. The comedy about Atze Schröder’s
kiosk in Essen won a German Television Award and the Berlin adventures starring Felicitas Woll won the Grimme Award and an Emmy.
In 2023 he made the television series CLUB LAS PIRANJAS. He has recently finished filming HORST SCHLÄMMER SUCHT DAS GLÜCK, starring Hape Kerkeling, which is scheduled for cinema release in March 2026.

The young dragon Tabaluga lives in Greenland with his foster father, Kolk the Raven. He´s never learned to breathe fire, but no dragon can teach him as he is the last of his kind. His only friend is a ladybug named Bully. One day, the evil Lord Arktos lures Tabaluga and Bully to Iceland, where they meet the beautiful ice princess Lilli and it´s love at first sight. Arktos wants to do away with all the dragons so he can freeze Greenland. But Arktos doesn´t know that Lilli has fallen in love with Tabaluga. Can the three of them defeat Arktos and his army of polar bears?
