Biography: Mipo O was born in Mie Prefecture in 1977. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts, she worked as a screenwriter for director Nobuhiko OBAYASHI. She directed her first feature-length film, "The Sakai's Happiness", selected by the Busan International Film Festival.

Yuji (10) is a regular kid who loves catching bugs after school – he even leads his school’s zoology club. He’s smitten with his classmate Kokoji, who impresses him with her confidence and courage to stand up for what she believes in. When Yuji learns she cares about ecology, he teams up with troublemaker Haruto to impress her. Together, they launch campaigns: handing out flyers urging people to stop using cars, even altering gas prices at stations. What starts as a good cause quickly spirals into reckless mischief. This funny, heartfelt, and thoughtful film about childhood also speaks to adults – connecting generations through themes of ecology, friendship, and growing up. Told through the eyes of a ten-year-old whose performance lights up the screen, Eco Rebels makes its world premiere at the Zlín Film Festival.
